Wedding Season at Whiteley Shopping Centre

Wedding season is finally back and it’s set to be busier than ever.

Whether you’re newly engaged, have your big day in the diary, or have got yourself an invite to toast a new happy couple this summer, here’s our wedding essentials guide for Whiteley Shopping Centre.

Wedding planning

When you’re planning a wedding there can be a lot to consider – from picking the date and venue choices, to guestlists, music, menus and more – it’s tricky to know where to start.

Stay organised from the off with a wedding planner or notebook from WH Smith to help keep all of your ideas, bookings and to-do lists in one place, and stay on top of everything you need in time for the special day.

An afternoon with wedding and bridal magazines may also be on the cards. You’ll find a wide selection at WH Smith filled with helpful hints, tips, ideas and inspiration for your big day.

There’s plenty to be worked through when considering who’ll be joining you on your wedding day. Once you have that agreed, Clinton Cards and Card Factory have a great range of wedding stationery for all of your save the dates and wedding invites.

You may want to go one step further for your extra special guests and treat them to a jewellery keepsake, such as a necklace, cufflinks or personalised bracelet from Beaverbrooks, Pandora or Ernest Jones.

Be my bridesmaid gift boxes and personalised hampers are also becoming increasingly popular and are the perfect way to ask your closest family and friends to be a part of your special day.

Create a personalised hamper packed with savoury and sweet treats from Marks & Spencer, as well as a small bottle of champagne or prosecco to celebrate. Or if they’re not a fan of bubbly, pick up some beers, or non-alcoholic fizz instead.

Pre-wedding celebrations

If you’re organising a pre-wedding party at home such as a hen or a stag do, find party essentials such as party poppers, photo props and accessories at Claire’s and Flying Tiger, as well as fun party games at The Entertainer.

You’ll also find a great range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at Marks & Spencer and Tesco.

From classic Espresso Martinis to minty Mojitos, there’s plenty of inspiration online if you’re looking to create your own cocktail bar. And don’t forget the nibbles!

Dress to impress as a guest

Weddings are the perfect chance to dress up and Whiteley Shopping Centre visitors can find a range of wedding guest outfits to suit all styles and budgets.

Whether you opt for a timeless black three piece, or you love a bold print, Moss Bros, Marks & Spencer and Next have a range of trouser suits to choose from. Add a pop of colour with a tie and pocket square from Moss Bros or Next and shiny new brogues or loafers from schuh to complete the look.

If you’re shopping for wedding guest dresses, try River Island or H&M. This year’s trending outfits include the classic floral midi dresses, colourful maxi dresses or – for something a little different – try a women’s trouser suit.

Make-up, hair and beauty

If you’re doing your own wedding makeup, head to Boots, Superdrug or The Body Shop who will be happy to offer advice and product recommendations.

The team at Hair Ott are also professionals in hair styling for weddings – whether you want a bouncy blow-dry or a classic up-do, you’re sure to leave the salon looking and feeling fabulous.

Want a fresh manicure or pedicure for the big day? The team at Skin Squared offer a range of beauty and pampering treatments that will ensure you’ll leave looking and feeling your best. Or if you’re in need for a quick fix, The Nail Bar at Superdrug is open for walk-in’s and last-minute trips.

Men can pop to Barbers on the Square for a hair and beard trim and pick up some hair styling products from Boots or Superdrug.

You may also want to choose a special wedding fragrance. Head to Boots or Superdrug where the team will be able to help and let you sample a range of perfumes and aftershaves to make sure you find the perfect scent.

Wedding gifts for the happy couple

Choosing a wedding gift is rarely an easy task.

A nice wedding photo frame or photo album from Next Home is a thoughtful gift that will help capture memories of their special day.

For something a little different, a cookbook from WH Smith filled with recipes for different occasions from date nights to easy weeknight meals is also a great idea.

Or if you’re stuck for ideas on gifts for newlyweds, you can’t go wrong with a voucher from their favourite store.

And finally, Clinton Cards and Marks & Spencer have a lovely range of cards and gift wrapping for the finishing touches.

Whether you’re tying the knot or are shopping outfits and gifts once you’ve RSVP’d, you can find our full list of stores on our Eat Drink Shop page.
