Summary & Purpose of the Role

The main purpose of the job is to provide supervision, guidance and direction to the cleaning team whilst working alongside the team ensuring that the teams are working in a safe manner and completing the daily tasks and PPM’s to the agreed standard. Provide assistance to the team, working alongside them to ensure best practice, systems and processes are followed and support the Services Manager to supervise, in the management of the cleaning team from an operational level. Ensure staff is trained accordingly, provide inductions and training to new starters and ongoing training to existing staff. Provide leadership and direction, to assure that the company standards and policies are followed and maintained.  To supervise, manage and monitor the day to day cleaning of the site in accordance with agreed schedules, key performance indicators, and within pre-determined budgets.

 

Responsibilities

  • To work supervise and monitor cleaning standards whilst working alongside and nurturing the team.

  • To manage materials, consumable stock levels and order as required according to the agreed budgets.

  • Assist the Services Manager in the management of the team absenteeism, punctuality and accurately recording staff attendance.

  • To control distribution of the stock.

  • To ensure all staff is Chemical trained and have had COSHH training.

  • To ensure staff is trained on all cleaning tasks and all training, refresher training and tool box talks are up to date.

  • Rota – to ensure cleaning rota fulfils the requirement of hours per week, escalate any issues or discrepancies to the Services Manager.

  • Rota management - to ensure all shifts are covered adequately through written and verbal communication.All changes to the scheduled rota to be communicated both verbally and written, and to review the rota’s regularly to ensure that they are still appropriate to cover the workload

  • To complete the daily and PPM tasks and duties in line with the agreed KPI’s and Specification

  • Supervise and monitor the waste & recycling team operations, liaising with Services manager

  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to manufacturer’s recommendations and full working order complying with Health and Safety regulations, reporting all equipment defects to the Services Manager.

  • Attend team meetings as required.

  • Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills

  • Ensure all communications contained within the handover are addressed at the start of each shift as a matter of course

  • Ensure that the team is motivated and build a positive relationship with the team.

  • At all times to follow through any managerial instructions

  • To ensure all work is carried out in a safe, proper and thorough manner taking into account Health and safety legislation, Incentive FM policies and procedures, risk assessments and method statements

  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of client and staff information.

  • Delivering TBT to the Cleaning Team ensuring all Staff are trained.

 

 

Skills and Experience

  • Experience of working in a Cleaning Environment at a Supervisory level

  • Experience of COSHH and the Use of Chemicals

  • IT literacy skills desirable.

  • Articulate and has the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.

  • Organised individual who can demonstrate some level of planning.

  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of high quality service delivery and their impact on this

The ability to be agile and flexible to meet the needs and demands of the role

Typical working hours: 

Full Time - Permanent - 40 x Hours Per Week on a Rota Basis and Flexible to meet the needs of the role & business (Minimum of 2 weekends per month)

    Whiteley is located just one mile from Junction 9 on the M27.

    After exiting the motorway, follow the signs for 'shopping centre'. If you are using a GPS or route finder system, enter PO15 7PD as the destination postcode.

  • Train

    Swanwick railway station is located within a 25 minute walk from Whiteley. There is also a taxi rank located at the station. Details of all connections and further information can be found at National Rail, South West Trains and Southern Railways.

  • Bus

    The First Bus Service operate the no.28/28A to and from Whiteley. The nearest bus stop is on Whiteley Way by Tesco.  Click here for the timetable.

     

Accessibility

Whiteley does everything to ensure that the Centre's facilities and services are made accessible to visitors and employees who have disabilities.

Blue Badge parking spaces are available in the East, Cinema A, Tesco and Market Square car parks in close proximity to the shops. Access from the car parks does not require the use of steps, lifts or escalators.

Blue Badge parking is subject to the advertised tariff, although visitors requiring additional time can contact Centre Management.

All car parks offer 4 hours' free parking with the ability to top-up to 6 hours for £2 (excluding Tesco). Our Tesco car park offers 2 hours' maximum free parking.

Accessible toilets are provided within the public toilet facilities by Market Square.

If any visitor requires additional assistance Centre Management will endeavour to help.

A portable induction loop system is available at the Centre Management Office and will be made available for use anywhere at the Centre as required.

Wheelchairs can be loaned for free from the Centre Management Office by Market Square. Photo identification will be required when loaning a wheelchair, and it is advisable to book in advance to avoid disappointment.

All car parks offer 4 hours' free parking with the ability to top-up to 6 hours for £2 (excluding Tesco). Our Tesco car park offers 2 hours' maximum free parking.

You will find cash machines located in Market Square and at Tesco. Both are withdrawal-fee free.

We have three POD Point electric vehicle charging posts on site (one is located in the East car park outside Harvester with a further two charging posts located outside the cinema in the Cinema B car park). Charging posts are FREE to use and all offer a fast 7kW charge via a Type 2 Mennekes connector.

East, Cinema A and Tesco car parks include Parent & Child spaces. 

A petrol station is located just by Tesco for your convenience.

All of our toilets include baby changing, hand wash and hand dryer facilities, all housed within each 'Supercubicle', including two accessible 'Supercubicles'. You'll find them located off Market Square. Other baby changing facilities are located across the Centre within a number of stores, cafes and restaurants.

We understand that many of us lead busy lives, so several of our stores have a Click & Collect facility to make life that little bit easier. Just order online and choose when you want to collect from your favourite store. 

Checking in at Whiteley couldn't be easier with our free Wi-Fi service. Simply access from your laptop or mobile and follow the on-screen prompts.

Please enquire at the Centre Management Office by Market Square for any lost property from the malls. Please speak to individual retailers regarding items lost within their stores.

Whether it's for an urgent prescription, pain relief or you need healthcare advice from a pharmacist, the pharmacy at Boots is open Monday to Friday 8.00am - midnight, Saturday 9.00am - midnight and Sunday 10.30am - 4.30pm.

A Photo Me passport photo booth is available for use by customers. You will find this near our customer toilets in Market Square.
